Owned by the same company?

So after going to several different beauty sales this past year, I have been thinking...

You all know about that MAC warehouse sale that I went to last week, at the sale, I noticed that they also sold Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Origins, Tom Ford products. Which reminds me about the L'Oreal sale I went where I saw brands such as Maybeline, Lancome, Biotherm, Vichy, and so on. And so I did some quick research online, and found out that other than MAC and Clinique, Estee lauder actually also owns other brands such as La Mer, Michael Kors, Jo Malone, Smashbox, and other ones that I'm not as familiar with. L'Oreal owns Giorgio Armani, Kiehl's, Maybeline, The Body Shop,Vichy, Lancome, Shu Uemura (At this point, a big WHAT is floating in my head now), Viktor Rolf, YSL, etc.

At this point, I almost feel scammed if that's the right word to put it. A lot of beauty companies that I thought were rivals actually belong to the same head company. I know a lot of you are going to say that different companies have different target clients so it's okay for them to be owned by the same head company, it's like having different lines targeting towards young girls, independent working women, and so on. But I can't help but feel what I feel right now.

Any of you have a similar feeling? Or am I just being foolish? :S

MAC Sale Haul

Yesterday, I got a call from my mom asking if I'm interested in going to the MAC / Clinique / Estee Lauder sale today cause she got free tickets.. and my answer was.. HELLZ YEAH! I've heard of this sale from a few fellow bloggers before but I never got a hold of the tickets. So today, me and my bf drove up to Markham Fairgrounds at around 11, and lined up for about 45 minutes before we could get in. It was chaos inside. There were many people, great deals, and very inefficient lineups and cashing systems. Nonetheless, as I'm not a frequent MAC buyer, I took advantage of the sale and got myself a few goodies. The best thing is that each ticket gets a free gift :D Here is my haul:

E/S Quad (Photo Realism, Fresh Approach, Image Maker, and Grey Range) $15
Creme De Miel E/S $9
Love Lace E/S $9
Mineralize E/S in Family Silver (FREE GIFT! :D )
Fluidline in Shade $9

Brush Set $30
includes 190SE, 168SE, 187SE, 194SE

I've heard that the quality of the holiday gift brush sets are not as good as the regular priced items. I've examined the different sets. Most of them are a 5 piece set. This 4 piece set, however, has the best quality I find. Also, I was looking for a stippling brush for the longest time. Face brushes are one of my most favourite things so I couldn't help myself but to snag one of these :D

I bought 4 sets of lashes, 2 in #41 and 2 in #10 $3 each
Mini size of lipglass in Delicate Crush $3

I absolutely love the lipglass. The colour is beautiful. Although I never saw the Viva Glam Gaga Lipglass in person, from what I've seen in swatches online, this lipglass reminds me of that. I regret not buying more since it's sooo mini :S

Romantique / Chill Blue $3 each

My mom and her friend went yesterday (one day before I went) My mom found these e/s for $3 each. I'm soooo jealous. When I went to the 3 dollar section today, they only had some lashes, the mini lipglasses, some cotton pads, and that's it. To be honest, I was kind of disappointed knowing that there were some awesome cheap e/s there before. My friend even got some Clinique Moisture Surge cream there for $3 on Friday :(

Other things that I bought:
MAC Select Cover-Up in NW20 $7
Clinique Derma White Brightening Moisture Gel Crean $15
Bobbi Brown Cleansing Oil $20 for 2
Tom Ford Black Orchid Body Moisturizer $20
